Would you like to become more involved in the nation's premier middle school organization?  Consider running for a position on the MAMSE Board of Directors.  These positions are three-year terms running from July 1, 2011 - June 30, 2014. 

In addition there is a vacancy in Region 14 - Upper Peninsula that will be appointed until the term expires June 30, 2012.

 

Eligibility

Must be:

Member of MAMSE for at least one year.

bullet

Willing and able to attend board meetings in August, October, January, April/May and the annual conference in March.

bullet

Willing to work to achieve MAMSE goals.

Provisions

bullet

Substitute teacher stipends are paid if needed.

Positions Scheduled for Election

Region 2:    Livingston, Monroe and Wastenaw Counties.  Currently represented by Dr. Nic Cooper.

Region 8:    Clinton, Shiawasee, Eaton, Ingham Counties.  Currently represented by Mary Ann Schmedlen.

Region 9:    Kent, Montcalm, Ionia, Allegan, Barry Counties.  Currently represented by Ryan Pfahler.

Region 11: Clare, Gladwin, Arenac, Isabella, Midland, Bay, Gratiot, Saginaw, Huron, Tuscola, Sanilac Counties.  Currently represented by Sherry Lambertson.

Region 12: Mason, Lake, Osceola, Oceana, Newaygo, Mecosta, Muskegon, Ottawa Counties.  Currently represented by David Baldus .

At Large: Open to anyone who is a member of MAMSE.  Currently represented by Jeff LaRoux.

Region 14 - Upper Peninsula -  appointed position until the term expires June 30, 2012

Election Process

Write a letter of intent to run.

bullet

Send your letter to the Election Chair by November 30, 2010

bullet

A fact sheet will be sent to all eligible candidates and must be returned to the Elections Chair by December 15, 2010

Elections will take place in January 2012 for any position with more than one nominee.

Results will be announced during the MAMSE conference at Coopersville Middle School, Coopersville, MI, March 17 - 18, 2011

2010 ELECTION RESULTS

CONGRATULATIONS!


PRESIDENT-ELECT
: Jennifer Nicholson.  This position is elected by the general membership in even numbered years. After two years of service on July 1, the President-Elect assumes the presidency of MAMSE. Candidates must be a member of MAMSE and have been a member of the Board of Directors a minimum of one year prior to the election or served MAMSE on a standing committee for one year prior to election.

TREASURER: Charlene Pike.  The treasurer is the chief financial officer of the Association and is responsible for MAMSE’s financial operations. The actual day to day financial operations are the responsibility of our Association Manager. The treasurer is elected by the general membership in even numbered years and assumes office July 1. Candidates must be a MAMSE member for at least one year. Computer and spreadsheet skills very desirable.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS:

Each year, one third of the Board of Directors is up for re-election. The following positions are for the three year term of July 1, 2010 – June 30, 2013

Region 3: Tanya Overweg:  Jackson, Hillsdale, Lenawee counties. 
Region 4: Don Hoaglin: Kalamazoo, Calhoun, Saint Joseph, Branch counties.
Region 7: Cecilia Boyer: Oakland County.  
Region 10: Dana Simmons:  Genesee, Lapeer counties.
